ABOUT WUVT WUVT's mission is to promote education, understanding, and diversity of music while serving the community as an independent, not-for-profit, student-run radio station. Our goal to provide diverse, eclectic, and educational programming makes us a truly unique organization. The vast majority of music played on WUVT cannot be heard anywhere else on your radio dial. WUVT is an FCC-licensed non-commercial radio station broadcasting at 6.5 kilowatts to Blacksburg, the Virginia Tech campus and a large surrounding area, including Montgomery County, Christiansburg, Radford, Floyd, Giles, Salem, Pulaski, and Wytheville. All disc jockeys, and most of our staff members, are unpaid volunteers. While the station is mostly comprised of student members, community involvement is strongly encouraged. Semi-annual community and local business donations keep WUVT available as a consistent public service to the community. WUVT airs public service announcements twice an hour, every hour, for university and not-for-profit community organizations. WUVT HISTORY "WUVT is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis or race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, disability, marital status, veteran status, or any other occupationally irrelevant criteria.
