The Virginia Tech Police Department has recently lost of one its finest. Officer Deriek W. Crouse was taken away from us in a senseless act of violence on December 8, 2011, a date that will forever live on in the memory of the Hokie Nation. WUVT sends our deepest condolences to The Crouse Family and the Virginia Tech Police Department.

If you would like to show support for the Crouse Family there are many options:

The funeral service for Virginia Tech Police Officer Deriek W. Crouse will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, at Cassell Coliseum. The Crouse family will receive friends at the Horne Funeral Home, 1300 N. Franklin St., Christiansburg, Va., on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established to support the needs of the Crouse family. Those wishing to contribute can mail checks, payable to "Deriek Crouse Memorial Fund" and can be sent to the address below:

There is also a student-run fund where you can donate Christmas gifts to the family of Officer Crouse. Gifts can be dropped off at the Virginia Tech police station. According to the fund's website, gift cards are preferred. The ages of Officer Crouse's sons are 18, 16, 15, and 11. The website also is encouraging gifts for Officer Crouse's wife.
