Here is a letter from our general manager regarding Radiothon.

It is that time again, but this time it is bigger than ever! Radiothon is here starting midnight Monday April 6th and running through midnight Sunday April 12th. Before I get any further, I would like to thank everyone who was able to pledge during last Radiothon to make it the best fundraiser we have had to date. You are the reason that WUVT has been able to stay Radio for Everyone for over 60 years. You are the reason that we are able to push for more community involvement and student training. You are the only reason that we can dream as big as moving our transmitter up to Price Mountain to increase our power from 3 to 6.5 kilowatts. This semester is our chance to make this dream a reality with the support of listeners like you. We are moving out of the comfort zone of Virginia Tech funded electricity available through our current Lee Hall location. With this move we will need to raise an additional $7,500 each year, but we are confident that this is more than a possibility. This is the year for us to define WUVT as the NRV radio station for quality programming. We are excited to broaden this reach to include everyone connected in our live stream available at www.wuvt.vt.edu. Our new website is a push to give you more information, local news and events along with a massively updated WOOVE online magazine.

I have had the pleasure of meeting a good number of alumni this year and it has shown me that the attachment to WUVT does not dwindle in the slightest after graduation, in fact it only seems to grow larger. This kind of commitment and enthusiasm is what started this project to move to Price Mountain, and it is going to take this kind of feeling to keep the project moving forward. These kinds of endeavors are founded in the sort of spirit that I know can only be found at WUVT.
Once again I thank you all for your support. When you donate, it does not only go towards the single show that you are able to enjoy. It goes towards the entire station and the movement that we represent, the opportunity for students to gain real world experience, the chance to interview bands and community members that have impacted the world around us, the love of music and most importantly it goes towards the chance for every future listener to have a chance to enjoy what we have.

Thanks for listening.
