Eliot Lipp - Peace Love Weed 3D
Written by Peter Tesh
Eliot Lipp

Elliot Lipp’s newest album brings us easygoing synth-heavy electro, although you can definitely hear his hip-hop influence in the backbeat. It’s spacey and trancey at times, urban at others, and carries the subtleties of a large number of influences while remaining a solid and consistent, if a bit repetitive, album.

The most notable songs on the album are probably “So Stoked”, with its warped, twangy guitar; “Yeah” for its relaxed but authentic hip-hop feel, and the semi-titular “P.L.W. 3-D” for its floating synth lead. But really, it is hard to single out any particular song on this album. The ten 4:20 (get it?) flow together so smoothly that the whole album could really be played as a single unit without anyone realizing that it was more than one seamless track. There is very little which differentiates most of the tracks, and I found myself often mistaking songs for each other on listening. Surprisingly, this ends up being one of this album’s strong suits. It’s as chill as it gets, but simultaneously manages to have a certain kind of energy behind it. It’s music to be played on loop, to get you moving or to just relax to. In short, if any album deserved the title Peace Love Weed 3D, this is that album.

4/5 Woovies: An album that goes great with all four parts of its title.
