[4.2.08] END OF DAY 3
We are quickly approaching $3,000 tonight. We still have Deral Fenderson and Terry Sweeny to come. Make sure you check them out. Again, we can never thank all our donators enough, you are why we are here.
[4.1.08] HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Today, in 1948, WUVT first boardcast. We have 60 years old, and going strong.
[4.1.08] DAY 2
Thank you to all those who donated to the station so far. We had a strong start to the week with over $1,000. WUVT would really like to be able to build and move to Price Mountain this summer, and your help is essential. We thank everyone who has gotten us this close to our move, we would really like to finish this project off. There are still great shows to come this week, Check out the program guide for all the themes.
We have a long way to go towards our goal of 15,000 this semester. We run on such a small budget and ask for only a little from our community, compare to other non-profit radio stations in the area. We hope that you pledge to the station, thinking about doing it is just not close enough.
Also, we would also like you consider looking into to see if your company has a matching gift program. See our donation page for further information.
[3.31.08] RADIOTHON!!!!
Starting Today, Monday, March 31st until Sunday, April. 6th, donations can be made to the station by calling us at (540)- 231-WUVT (9888) or donating online here.
As a fully functioning radio station, WUVT, 90.7, maintains its costly FCC-license while continuing to play only non-commercial music. We broadcast shows such as WUVT Sports, where many Virginia Tech athletes and coaches are interviewed; Hickory Dickory Dock’s children's show on Saturday mornings from 9a.m. until 11 a.m., which is one of the oldest children’s shows in Virginia; and local zone on Wednesday nights from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., featuring live local bands in our studio. To see more about our shows and the themes this week, see our program guide.
WUVT has been working really hard to bring you the latest and coolest music. We feel that Blacksburg really is dire need of good shows and music. In order for us to bring shows from out of town, they ask us for traveling money. It is hard for WUVT to front the cost before hand, your donations can help us to provide better acts. In addition, the music industry is now trying to clamp down on webstreaming, they want us to pay for every song that we stream to you. This is another new cost for us. Along with this cost, we need a system in order to report all the data to the company, another fee. We are looking to move our transmitter off campus and to a higher power to reach farther out. In order for this to happen, there will be new cost. Again, your donations can help keep you listening to WUVT. Take a few minutes this week and turn on the webstream or tune into the station (90.7fm) and enjoy the programming we are providing for you. Our DJs have worked very hard to plan an unique and lively show for you.
If you would like to donate to WUVT, you may do so by calling the station during the week of Radiothon to 540-231-WUVT (9888), or by mailing a check made out to WUVT to:
WUVT Studios
350 Squires Student Center
Virginia Tech
Blacksburg, VA 24061
Also, WUVT is a non-profit organziation, so there is lots of companies that do matching gifts. Your donation can easily be double and some times triple by just filling out a form. Check out the list we have gathered for you. This is always changing, so if you don't see your company name, still check with them.
Stay tune all week for daily updates on how we are doing torwards our goal of $15,000.
