Note from the editor...
We started out this year's Woove with a simple game plan:  to give Blacksburg a guide to their local music scene.  Having been here for a while, we noticed that the majority of the population around here doesn't realize that we even have a nightlife beyond bars and frat parties.  We decided to try and do our part to spread the word...

So you won't see any articles in the 2002 edition of the Woove on major headlining bands.  You won't see anything in this magazine that doesn't come through Blacksburg at least every once in a while.  In other words, you won't find anything in this magazine that you can't get your hands on.

Our plea is this:  Get involved.  Too many times we've heard, "For real?  They're playin' tonight?  Well there's this party... I'm just gonna catch 'em next time."  There is an avid group of talented musicians in this town that play their hearts out every weekend, for the love of music.  No matter what kind of music you're into, you don't have to look far; there's a band somewhere around Blacksburg to fit your genre.  If we don't show them the respect and support they deserve our music scene will only diminish.

Thanks go to everyone that helped make this issue happen, from artists to writers, from graphic designers to advertisers, thank you.  Special thanks to Team Demolition, DeadBeats, Spac, and all the emcees who participated in the freestyle battle during our hiphop showcase/fundraiser.  (Congratulations to Roscoe on winning the free drink)  It's because that even was so successful that we get to put our plan into action.  We hope you not only read this issue, but find something in it that interests you and gets you involved in what Blacksburg has to offer.  Peace.
