Geese - Getting Killed
Label: Partisan
Genre: Alt Rock
Reviewed by: Hanya Hudgens
A masterful display of genre bending post punk wizardry with elements of free jazz and thought-provoking lyrics. there are influences everywhere - from Tom Waits and Radiohead (most obvious) to Nick Cave, Van Morrison, Talking Heads, even Television and The Smiths occasionally... true genre-bending stuff.

Lathe of Heaven- Aurora
Label: Sacred Bones
Genre: Post Punk
Reviewed by: Marcus Mason
With Aurora, Lathe of Heaven brings gothy Post-punk that sounds surprisingly close to its genres' 1980s predecessors. The guitars bring a variety of intensities and moods with each song. These moods are fiercely boosted by confrontational lyrics belted out with shouty or groaned vocals. Images of a black abyss, war, and blood haunt the overall apocalyptic message of songs like Track 3 and Track 8, with stories of love and longing grace songs like Tracks 1 and 2. Each track is strong enough to stand on its own, making a full listen feel wonderfully complete.

The Hives- The Hives Forever Forever The Hives
Label: Play It Again Sam

The Hives envisioned the album as a greatest-hits collection with all-new songs. Often, it delivers on that promise. They scour their body of work for inspiration, offering something for every kind of Hives fan.

Barry Can't Swim- Loner
Label: Ninja Tune
Genre: Electro pop
Reviewed by: Darby Close
There is a lot of sound and activity going on, which makes it wonderfully chaotic. Listening to the album through gives you a sense of whiplash because you just don't know what's going to happen next. Each song is distinct, yet all fit together in the album. This album sits nicely between upbeat indie dance and ambient electronica, blending in a bit of jazz to create the perfect blend for when you need something upbeat yet still full of emotion.

Nation of Language- Dance Called Memory
Label: Sub pop
Genre: Synth pop
Reviewed by: Darby Close
This whole album is EPIC. Play literally any song and you won't be disappointed. If you’re looking for indie dance tracks with heart, this album is stacked. Definitely worth spinning; whether you’re going for energy, atmosphere, or a perfect in-between. The songs build and build, featuring great instrumental solos, and feel very well polished. It features elements of pop, synth music, shoegaze, and bedroom indie rock. It’s a hodgepodge of vibes, and it's magical.

Rudy Love & the Encore 11
Label: Midtopia
Genre: Soul/R&B
Reviewed by: Alicya James
Rudy Love & The Encore beautifully curated their second album that I would describe as angelic yet groovy.11 is a nice blend of soul, funk, and R&B proving that they are not afraid to tap into other genres all while not straying far away from their roots (soul). While the album features tight grooves, soulful vocals and catchy melodies. It's safe to say I am looking forward to what they create next. These musical geniuses make me want to boogie down the sidewalk in fall due to how relaxing yet musically stimulating their tunes are.

Asher White 8 Tips for Full Catastrophe Living
Label: Joyful Noise
Genre: Noise Pop, Indie Rock
Reviewed by: Emmet Case
A woman of few words, Asher White communicates a lot of emotion with heavily instrumental tracks. The album contains a variety of sounds, from song to song or even within a single track. At times it is alarming and somewhat grating (in a good way) with a cacophony of sounds overwhelming the senses. It then offers respite with relaxing somewhat melancholy tunes and vocals. While somewhat out of the ordinary, it's a wonderful album to put on when you need a time to decompress from the chaos of the world.

Will Paquin Hahaha
Label: Secretly Distribution
Genre: Alt/Indie Rock
Reviewed by: Alicya James
In the best way Hahaha is so loser with a good taste in music coded. Will yet again shows just how versatile his music can be due to its mix of electronic beats, hints of rock, and even simply just his guitar. I can sense his emotion while singing some painfully relatable tracks, but he somehow manages to still make the songs a fun listen by his incredible instrumentals. Overall, this album is a great listen make sure your headphones are all the way up.

Guerilla Toss You're Weird Now
Label: Sub Pop
Genre: Alt
Reviewed by: Alicya James
Super fun listen, I would genuinely recommend every song on this album. If you're looking for something that feels like a mixture of all the best things the world has to offer (funk, punk, psychedelia, and pop) then this is for you. Theres harsh rock, funky basslines, crazy lyrical work which altogether make something so fun to dance to, scream to relate to, or whatever you feel like doing. But this album is for all the feels, and I am here for it, so should you.

Seedbed Stalemate
Label: Tiny Engines
Genre: Indie Art Rock
Reviewed by: Hayden Swenson
Emotive indie rock featuring elements of post rock, shoegaze, and emo. The sound on Stalemate varies from quiet and atmospheric to powerful and noisy, frequently jumping between both within a single track. Layered guitars (and the occasional mandolin, banjo or piano) provide an intricate backdrop to sensitive male/female vocals that work especially well during the album's softer moments. The first three tracks are the best!
