Here's a Note from Emelia Delaporte, the Current Silhouette Editor-In-Chief:
Itās that time of the semester again!
Silhouette Literary and Art Magazine is accepting submissions of poetry, prose, photography and art to our semesterly magazine. Weāre also bringing in a special twist this spring ā in addition to VT students, weāre also inviting VT staff, NRCC students and residents of Montgomery County to submit their work for anonymous consideration.
We accept submissions here
If you make any sort of art, youāre a creative! Silhouette prides itself on being a safe space for budding creatives to publish for the first time as well as being a favorite place for more experienced creatives to continually publish their work closer to home. Providing a place for creatives to find one another at a STEM school is one of our greatest joys!
Our submissions pool closes February 21, 2025. Be brave! Whatās the worst that can happen? You get your name in a cool magazine?
Canāt wait to see your work in our inbox!

EMCVT (the Educational Media Company at Virginia Tech) is having a design competition for a new logo!
If you donāt know, EMCVT is the parent organization for WUVT, Collegiate Times, Silhouette, and Virginia Tech Television. The logo should encompass the artistic and journalistic spirit embodied by all of our organizations!
Design entries are due Thanksgiving Day (11/28), and the managers of each org to vote on after break. The chosen logo will be turned into stickers and possibly other merch! Additionally, the winner will receive a $25 gift card of their choice (grocery store, gas station, or restaurant).
Attached is the current EMCVT logo. It's basically a blue circle with a very long line of text. Your entry can be inspired by the current logo or completely different!
If you have any questions, please reach out to our GM, Kate. All entries are welcome, not just those on WUVT art staff. Please submit designs directly to Kate through Slack or email. Thank you!
